Submarine Base – Balaklava, Ukraine
Technically, this submarine pier in the Ukraine is not really abandoned. The submarine base was fully operational until 1993, when it was closed. At the time, it was one of the most secret Soviet-owned bases in the world.
Today, its doors have been opened to the public and the site is now a national naval museum. Visitors can explore what was once a clandestine place full of mystery.
Ross Island – India
Ross Island was built to be the British administrative centre for the Indian Penal Settlement. Since its independence, the area has been largely abandoned and left to nature to take control.
Over time, the vines and leaves have been made at home and the site is now completely devoid of human visits. No one cares for the region or for the animals that have found a home there, making it a unique place! What do you think?
