These places were abandoned years ago. Look at them today

Maunsell Army Marine Forts – United Kingdom

These marine forts were designed by Guy Maunsell and built in 1942. Originally located on the Thames and Mersey, they were intended to protect the United Kingdom during the Second World War. It took less than 10 years for all these forts to be closed and decommissioned.

For a time, they were used by people to broadcast illegal radio stations, but that also stopped over time. Today, they are completely empty – or is that what they want us to believe?

Bodiam Castle – United Kingdom

During the Hundred Years War, a soldier built Bodiam Castle to protect East Sussex from the French. It served as a defensive castle in medieval times, but the soldiers eventually left the castle. Today, it reminds visitors of the rich history of Britain.

Tourists simply cross a moat – yes, a moat, and can travel through the building and witness history. Although it is not ‘abandoned’, it is no longer used to protect the British from the French.
