Nara Dreamland – Japan

Nara Dreamland Park was inspired by Disneyland. It opened its doors to the public in 1961, but by 2006 it had closed. Perhaps Disney’s foray into Japan had an effect on sales and popularity.

Today, it remains the perfect place for tourists and travelers who want to explore the ruins. But be careful: sometimes there are security dens patrolling the area. You won’t have much trouble if they find you, but you’ll probably get a fine.

Abandoned Mill – Italy

Deep in Sorrento, Italy, is this mill in the valley. It was reportedly abandoned in 1866 and has remained virtually intact ever since. At that time, it milled wheat and operated near a sawmill.

The reason for its abandonment is very clear: it was isolated from the sea when the Plaza Tasso was built. This meant that the humidity rose to very high levels and became unsustainable.
