Located in the mountains of San Juan, this abandoned mine was once the work site for thousands of workers. It was part of the Red Mountain Mining District, which covered more than five miles and had 40 mines.
Eventually, the miners left the region to concentrate on the most profitable parts of the mountains and the site was abandoned. Today, all that remains are the memories of earlier generations who spent their days searching for gold or diamonds.
Famous, the Great Wall of China is made of stone, bricks, wood and Chinese workers. Of course, we all know that there are parts of the Wall (which was built in the 7th century) that are open to the public. The 13,000-mile wall can apparently be seen from space, although this is not confirmed.
However, there are many parts of the wall that are completely alone and therefore have no maintenance. If you can, avoid the crowds and see these parts.
